Cameron Carpenter Bio
Cameron Carpenter is a 26-year music industry veteran who has worked in all areas of the business. In the late seventies he worked as a journalist for various music magazines across North America before landing a job at Quality Records in their publicity department. With Quality for six years Cameron worked in publicity, A&R, International and marketing. In 1986 he moved with Motown Records over to MCA Records Canada where he was the label's product manager as well as looking after Chrysalis, TVT, Roadrunner and Mechanic records. In the early nineties he was named Director Of A&R for MCA and signed The Headstones, The Watchmen, Eric Nagler and helped Sloan with their deal with Geffen Records as well as signing them to a worldwide publishing deal.
After a year away from the labels when he became Director Of Marketing for the Hard Rock Cafe chain, Carpenter returned to the industry as Director Of Artist Relations & Media at BMG Music Canada. At BMG he worked with everyone from the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears to the Foo Fighters, Treble Charger and Puff Daddy. In both 1998 and 1999 he was awarded the major label Publicist of The Year at the annual Canadian Music Industry awards show. In 2001 Carpenter joined Sony Music Canada as Director Of International Marketing and worked with Celine Dion, Our Lady Peace, Amanda Marshall and Leonard Cohen.
In 2002 Cameron started Prick Publicity & Management and formed a partnership with Smoke & Mirrors Promotions. His management clients include Down With Webster, National Anthem, Moe Berg (as a producer) and Goldfinger's Darrin Pfeiffer (as a producer), as well as being involved in the management of Tara Slone. He is also looking after the label Underground Operations featuring the bands Bombs Over Providence, Closet Monster and Protest The Hero. In the first year of his publicity business he has worked with The Trews, Blink Pictures, 102.1 The Edge, Priya Thomas, Triumph, Blinker The Star, Goddo, Mudmen, D.O.A., Inner City Surfers, illusionist Scott Hammell and Goldfinger.
